Competition announcement:
IATEFL conference roving reporters
IATEFL Annual International Conference, Brighton 15 – 19 April 2011
Deadline for competition entries: Thursday 16 December 2010
The British Council and IATEFL would like to send four Roving Reporters to the IATEFL Conference in Brighton, UK in April 2011.
Please visit http://www.iatefl.org for information about the IATEFL Conference.
The four Roving Reporters will report on the major debates, news and 'coffee bar gossip' at IATEFL Brighton Conference as it happens. They will use laptops to produce quick-fire reports, mini-interviews and personal impressions. These will be published on the Brighton Online website for the duration of the conference.
The Reporters' coverage will enable ELT professionals worldwide to keep up with the conference even if they can't attend in person. We are looking for Roving Reporters who are able to communicate the excitement of the IATEFL conference, as well as the key points of the debates happening in Brighton, to practitioners worldwide, whether the latter are teachers and trainers in the state or the private sector.
The Brighton Online Roving Reporters will be ELT practitioners who have not had the chance to attend the IATEFL conference in previous years, and who have always wanted to attend but would find it impossible or almost impossible to fund themselves to do so.
We invite you to apply for selection as one of this year's Roving Reporters by completing the Writing Challenge. Applications will be judged by British Council and IATEFL colleagues. The winners chosen to be 2011´s Roving Reporters will be notified by late January.
The winners will have their conference fee, flights (where applicable) and connecting travel, hotel accommodation, meals and subsistence paid for (this will be arranged by the British Council in London).
The Reporters will need to arrive in Brighton on 13 April and will depart from the UK (if based overseas) on 19 or 20 April. Laptops will be supplied for the duration of IATEFL.
So, if you'd like to be one of the British Council Roving Reporters at IATEFL, take up our Writing Challenge below!
Good luck and we look forward to reading your entries!
