Garnet Education, an independent UK publisher, has established a global reputation for quality and innovation in higher education. In 2012 we will launch an updated English for Academic Study series, additional titles in the award-winning English for Specific Academic Purposes (ESAP) series, two new Business English courses and our first young adult reader series. North Star ELT, an independent publisher of ELT materials for all ages and levels, will be sharing the Garnet stand.

Progressive Skills in English is a four-level skills-based series academic English course targeting intermediate to upper-intermediate level (CEF: B1–B2, IELTS: 4.0–6). The course builds the listening, speaking, reading and writing skills required for lectures, tutorials, research and written assignments in English. It is specially designed in terms of themes, topics, vocabulary, receptive and productive skills, and grammar, to target students in English-medium study. Each level comes complete with Audio CDs, and DVDs. The Progressive Skills in English website,, gives students access to extensive free online resources, including the opportunity to practice vocabulary, grammar, reading, listening and speaking with innovative online activities.

This year, new editions of the best-selling English for Academic Study (EAS) series are being published in collaboration with the University of Reading. Trialed with students, the EAS series comprises seven separate EAP Course Books, covering the essential skills for English-medium study. The series has been designed for students on pre-sessional and foundation courses within the range of CEF B1–C1, IELTS 4.0–7.0. Multimedia support: audio material includes authentic transcripts of realistic length, with a variety of accents. An EAS Listening DVD with extracts from lectures is also available. The series website,, features a variety of teacher and student resources, including interactive activities for EAS Speaking and EAS Extended Writing & Research Skills. The EAS Teacher’s Books provide users with a variety of routes through the books so they can be adapted to a range of teaching situations, from short courses to more extended timetables.
