How do I upload my presentation to the Glasgow Online website?
Dear all Glasgow IATEFL Presenters,
We wanted to provide some instructions to help you create a unique session page where you can host your presentation and interact with others on the material you make available.
Please find some steps below and let us know if you're having any problems.
Thanks
Glasgow Online Team
----
First - if you are a presenter at the IATEFL Glasgow Conference, to upload your presentation to the Glasgow Online website, you'll need to request a 'presenter account'.
To register and create your account, click the 'What's Next -Register for Glasgow Online. Create an account.' button to the right of the main image on the home page.
Make sure when you register - you tick the box to request a 'Presenter Account'.
Once your Presenter Account has been approved, on the front page the 'What's Next' button will say: 'GLASGOW IATEFL PRESENTERS upload presentation material to Glasgow Online'
Click this button - this will take you through the process of uploading your materials.
Creating your own session page and uploading your session to the Glasgow Online website
Here are some instructions on how to upload your materials to the website:
(1) Go to the home page of this website:
http://iatefl.britishcouncil.org/2012
(2) To the right of the main image at the top of the page, click on:
‘What’s next GLASGOW IATEFL PRESENTERS upload presentation material to Glasgow Online'
This takes you to the ‘User account’ page
[Note: If you registered for Brighton Online last year, you can use the same login details. If you have forgotten your login details you can request them to be sent to your email.]
(3) Type your name in the user name box and type in your email address
(4) In the area below ‘apply for a role’, click ‘presenter’.
Then ‘create new account’
[Note: Even if you registered for Brighton Online you will need to request a presenter account again for Glasgow Online. You may see a prompt at the top-left of the page asking you if you need a presenter account. Click that link to create an account.]
(5) The Glasgow Online team will then verify your presenter registration request.
Once we have approved your account request, you will receive an email confirming that your presenter account is active.
Once your presenter account has been approved, next time you login, you will see a new text on the 'What's Next' button on the front page of the Glasgow Online website saying: 'What's Next - Glasgow IATEFL Presenters - upload presentation material to Glasgow Online'
Click this text. You will now be on the session upload page.
[As a shortcut, use this link http://iatefl.britishcouncil.org/2012/node/add/session]
(6) Enter details of your session. Further instructions are provided on the upload page to help you with this process. Please make sure you go through all the tabs (Session details, When and Where and Associated Documents)
*Please note (i):
- if two people are co-presenting this session, you can add more than one name (all session presenters should be registered on the site first)
- you can come back to this page and edit your session information at any time
- there is a maximum file size (20MB) for each file you upload
- if you need to check the abstract for your presentation, please refer to the Conference Programme
*Please note (ii): If you have any problems with uploading documents or any other information to the Glasgow Online website, please use the ‘contact us’ form on the Glasgow Online website.
Note that if you have several attachments, the upload process can take some time. Please don’t close your browser window until the screen refreshes and you see the message: Session XYZ has been created
Finally…
We very much hope that you’ll be able to upload your session materials before coming to Glasgow.
Many thanks,
The IATEFL Conference Committee and Glasgow Online Team
I've tried to click on the 'What's Next' link in order to create a presenter's account, but it tells me, 'Access Denied'.
What can I do about this?
Hi Tom
Thanks for your message and apologies for not responding earlier
Let me explain the cause of this issue:
If you've applied for a presenter account - you'll then need to wait until your account has been approved manually. There can sometimes be a short delay between the time you apply and the time it's approved
Thanks for your patience - I see that your account was approved and you will have received an email confirming your account
Many thanks for raising this
Julian & Glasgow Online Team
Julian
I actually ended up creating two accounts. I have successfully created a speaker's page using this one now. So all is well. Thank you.
Can you just remind us where to find the speakers/presenters page Julian? I clicked on the option when I updated my details bit my profile doesn't have any information confirming I've been accepted.
See you in a few weeks
Hi Shaun - good to see you here
Shaun - I just made a few changes to the instructions above - the steps should be a bit clearer now
Shaun - your Presenter Account has been approved.
If you're logged in, on the front page, the 'What's Next' button (to the right of the main image on the homepage) should say:
GLASGOW IATEFL PRESENTERS upload presentation material to Glasgow Online.
Could you let me know if you don't see that
If you do see that, click there
Looking forward to catching up in Glasgow
Best
Julian
Hi Julian,
I have registered as a presenter, but the "What's next" box now says 'go to forum page', so I can't upload my session. Can you help?
Thanks
Hi Keith
You should have received an email confirming that your presenter account is now active
The account requests can take a short time to approve.
You should now be able to create your session page.
Please let us know if you have any issues with your account
many thanks

Dear Julian
I have two questions ...
I have just logged in, successfully, using last year's details. Do I still have to wait for my 'presenter' account to be approved? I can't see the upload button at the moment.
My second question is that we (joint presentation with Emma procter-Legg and Rebecca Adlard) are using Prezi for our presentation. In order to share this on Glasgow Online can we provide a link or should we convert to a PowerPoint?
Thank you
Barbara
Hi Barbara
Have you created a session? If you create a session and add your details, you should be able to see a place where you can upload details. If you want your presentation to show on this site, you'll have to upload a PowerPoint. However, you are quite welcome to add your prezi link.
Thanks
Jack

Hello:
How can a create a session page? I have applied as a presenter but I still cannot create a session or upload. Thank you
Paula
Hi Paula - I see you've been able to create your page - there's sometimes a slight delay while the request for a presenter account is processed
Many thanks

Hi Julian
Better late than never. I am now wanting to upload my session. However, to the right of the main picture on the home page I see, "What's Next Glasgow IATEFL
Join the discussion in our forums."
Can you help?
Also, my presentation included video clips and audio clips. Will it be possible to include these?
Cheers
Mark
Hi Mark
You should have received an email confirming that your presenter account is now active
The account requests can take a short time to approve so apologies for the delay. You should now be able to create your session page.
By all means provide links to any audio/ video clips from your session page. I'm afraid we're not set up to allow you to host them here
Thanks
Julian / Glasgow Online Team
