The title of the LT PCE which takes place tomorrow, Monday. (I hope I sleep tonight, I'm so excited to be in Glasgow!) Please post any general questions or comments here or start a thread of your own. I'm looking forward to reading them all!

We have been talking about CALL(computer assisted language learning) for a century and we now strarted talking about MALL (mobile assisted language learning) which I think are basically the same. I think they are very good ideas for improving the quality of language learning experinces of the learners in TESOL or TEFL context. My question, however, is can we talk about CALL or MALL in africa. Does anyone of you have the experience of CALL or MALL in Africa? If yes how effective are they for the learning and teaching of English language in Africa? What are the challenges around?

Tesafye, some of our participants yesterday were from Africa - we were talking at one point about some of the projects that have been undertaking in different parts of the continent - Neil Ballantyne, the British Council's mobile learning manager was someone who talked about this.

You can see links to the presentations from yesterday's PCE here: http://ltsig-mall.pen.io/

Hello Nicola,
I'm interested in CALL and MALL.MALL is new concept for me and I try to read in this field in English.Nowadays learning and teaching go beyond the walls of the classroom thanks to technological devices.I think sometimes I can't keep up with all these developments in technology.Everyday a new device or programme start to be used so that I am confused and puzzled:(

Indeed. Me too! The best presentations I saw during the week were the ones that took a single idea and gave specific answers on how and why it worked for them. Two of our scholarship winners, Jitendra and Bruno, gave great examples. One using QR codes and the other using Skype.

Did you come across any ideas you particularly liked?

Although I didn't attend the conference,I have learnt many valuable ideas online and by watching the interviews. But one day,I hope I could be one of the participants of the conference:)

Maybe you could apply for a scholarship and come to Liverpool to present to us next year. That would be cool!
