Reflective Practice For Language Teachers

Reflective practice generally means that language teachers subject their assumptions, beliefs and
teaching practices to a critical analysis so that they can become more aware of their practice. Gaining teaching experience as a language teacher is not enough to provide automatic professional development, for we do not learn much from experience as much as we learn from reflecting on that experience; thus experience combined with systematic reflection can lead to professional growth so that we can become more effective language teachers. This interactive plenary outlines what reflective practice is and how language teachers can do it regardless of their level of teaching experience. I am hoping that this interactive talk will give you a chance to take a reflective break as you begin to explore, examine, challenge and reflect on your assumptions, beliefs and classroom practices.

Thank you for the idea which is sure to be productive. I have been thinking of self-inspection and control in EFL teaching and wondered how I could fortify my argument for thought in teaching practice. I saw no chance for success with ideas like this without references. I am happy to know that I can have your idea and your publications for reference.

Re: gikar / the sound of the video
I also tried to view the video but the sound went funny after 5 minute.
Can anybody help to sort this out?

Dear All,
We are aware that the video for Thomas Pleanary has some problems around the 5 minute mark. We are addressing the problem and will correct it soon.
Thank you for your patience.
That was something I should teach my students to refer to every now and then in the course of methodology, practice and then their career. Thank you for a wonderful material.
I remember that there was mention of "SCORE analyses" in this presentaiton - does anyone have the reference for who came up with this kind of analysis of classroom interaction?
