Idioms form a natural and essential part of the general vocabulary of the English language. As a teacher, it is essential to introduce idioms in a meaningful and personalised context. I will outline a few of my favourite Web 2.0. tools, which will make teaching idioms not only fun, but also highly effective and memorable for students.
Date of session: Sunday, April 17th 2011
Time of session: 16.55pm
Place: Boardroom
Hope to see you there!

Hi Janet, looking forward to your session - I like your idea of putting a taster here first too (I think I'll copy that!)

Hi Grahame
I'm delighted to hear you'd like to attend my session! I really look forward to meeting you in person.
I saw that a few presenters had put a preview on their session details and so I decided to do the same for the moment! I think it's a great idea. I'm still finalising details and links for my presentation, so doing this was a good intermediary step :)

Hi, Janet! Good luck to you with your interesting talk! I'll also try to join the session on-line. Never done online conferencing before, so l'm really looking forward to it! Will it be like a video broadcast of your talk?
It will be great to "see" you again! Love your edublog so much - it's so informative, bright and megapositive!

Hi Yulia
Thank you so much for your kind words! It's lovely to see you here online. I don't think my talk is being recorded as there are so many sessions to choose from. The video recordings of a lot of sessions will be streamed live, and that is a great way to keep up with all the action! I will be adding my presentation and the Idiomatic Story outline after the weekend, so watch this space!!
I hope you are keeping well. Look forward to seeing you again soon.
Hi Janet
Good luck with your presentation. Wish I could be there.

Hi
No my presentation wasn't streamed this time, but maybe next time it will be :)
I think it seemed to go very well and the audience participated in some activities that I set up.

Hi Chiew
Many thanks for your best wishes!! I think the session seemed to go down very well and I enjoyed giving the talk. Although there was space for 25 attendees, there seemed to be at least 50 people or more in the room, so there was a great turn-out!
I asked the audience to choose their preferred ending to the digital idiomatic story that I had created, and 66% chose the one suggested by my classes and not the one that I had originally thought of.

Thank you, Janet, for your wonderful idiomatic story and a wealth of sources on teaching and learning idioms, using images and creative tools! No wonder your session was a success!
Was it your cat in the story:))?

Hi Yulia
Thank you so much once again for your lovely kind words!! I'm so glad you have seen the materials I used during the session.
Yes, indeed, the cat is none other than my trusted feline companion, Joey!! He has been "Befunkified"in my presentation, so that he looks a bit more artistic and funky!!
Befunky is a great photo editing tool that does lots of exciting things with images.
