Identity crisis: managing online reputation

Session details

In encouraging our students to interact on blogs and wikis or live through Skype or other synchronous tools, we contribute to their digital footprint. What are the dangers? Can online identity be managed? This workshop will raise awareness of some of the issues raised through hands-on activities which should better equip attendees to prepare their learners to act more responsibly.

Thanks very much for attending. Apologies that I can't seem to upload the presentation in PowerPoint format but I have added a pdf version. If you have any comments or questions then please feel free to approach me during the rest of the conference, through this comment function or using my email and other online contact details.

Hi - it was a really interesting session. I have discussed the dangers of putting too much information on facebook etc with my students, but I don't think they really considered the consequences. I will be using the resources you showed us with my students and sharing them with colleagues as digital safety is a major issue, especially as we are online, both personally and professionally, so much of the time.

Glad you enjoyed it Susan!

If it's impact you're after then you could try looking at this Teachers TV video which contains a powerful if shocking exercise. http://www.teachers.tv/video/26942 It depends on the age group which you are involved with whether a similar exercise might bear fruit.
