Six women, three men, eight surprises. That's the promise for PK Evening.

German, Chinese, english, French - these were the nationalities of the 4 first courageous souls who stepped on stage and performed for 6:40 minutes to a background of 20 ppt slides. No more, no less than that.

the first 4 were an intersting demonstration of the overall tone of this conference. Here, we learn all the time. For example, in the last 2 presentations we learnt a little bit of Danish  (how to say "the cow is hot") and also French, with sounds, practice and all it takes. I feel that I can already embark on the Chunnel and start communicating with my round-lipped friends across the English Channel! I learnt that, if used with the correct intonation, the word 'pardon' may be employed in a wide variety of situations! Why bother?

After the interval the audience, more relaxed after a glass of wine, was all ears to the second half of the already successful PK evening. The enthusiasm of Jeremy Harmer was contagious as he welcomed each new speaker. the presenters met our expectations 100% and showed how creative, witty and sensitive they are, sharing special moments of their lives, lovely pictures, and to the audience's delight, sometimes a few rather embarrassing photos!

At the end, a loud round of well deserved applause awaited the performers of IATEFL 2011 PK evening. What a night!

The speakers were, in order of appearance:

1 - Petra Pointer

2 - Ying Zheng

3 - Nick Billborough

4 - Bethany Cagnol

5 - J J Wilson

6 - Valeria Franca
