Toxic Childhood
Toxic Childhood, Plenary Session by Sue Palmer, 09.00-10.10, Sunday 17th April
It was a very impressive talk that made me and other conference delegates think about the children around us.
Sue Palmer started her talk with giving striking statistics about children's literacy and attention problems. As Sue Palmer says, "the world moves at electronic speed, but human development happens in biological time."
She was not against the technology, but she mentioned that the marketing industry and wild capitalism had a bad effect on children's physical, psychological and sociological development. She suggests making our children and students read, write, listen and play.
I'm sure that the things that she pointed out made attendees think about their own parenting and teaching style and take a positive action.
Another thing is that she was so talented in presentation skills that I was very impressed by what she talked about. I strongly recommend everyone to watch her plenary talk on Brighton online website.
