A Walk around Brighton in the Sunshine

For the first time in four days I ventured out of the Brighton Centre during the day by joining one of the guided Brighton walks.  Our guide was Glenda who took us efficiently around the sights of Brighton whilst giving us lots of fascinating facts about the city.

We started by going under the road via a tunnel to the beach.  The beach was full of people enjoying the sun.  Brighton seafront is like a seaside themepark with deckchairs, a pebbled beach, seafood stalls selling delights such as jellied eels and whelks, funfairs, cafes, ice cream stalls and of course Brighton Pier.  There were even gyms on the beach where keep fit enthusiasts can use the cycle machines whilst gazing out to sea.

Glenda led us on to the famous spectacular Brighton Pavilion which looks a little like the Taj Mahal and for this reason was offered as a hospital for Indian soldiers during the first World War.  Then she took us into an amazing maze of shops called the Lanes where it is very easy to get lost (as testified by one of our group who got lost in this area yesterday).

Glenda delivered us back to the Brighton Centre in time for our next semester and didn't lose anyone on the way through a very crowded Brighton.  Many thanks, Glenda.
