e-English for Teachers: A path to social inclusion
The British Council has invested in online teacher development using the ubiquitous MOODLE platform to deliver both language development courses and methodology training to teachers in difficult circumstances all over Latin America and the Caribbean. One of the components of YES!, a Regional Project for English Language Teachers, is the online language improvement course e-English for teachers, aimed at those interested in developing more confidence in their language performance up to an intermediate (B1) level.
Already, several hundred teachers in the remotest of rural areas as well as bustling inner cities are benefiting from the digital inclusion and collaborative learning that this course has brought. In addition, hundreds of teachers and teacher-trainers from British Cultural Institutes and other centres all over the region have undertaken the e-Tutoring Certificate course, also offered in MOODLE, gaining essential online tutoring skills which enable the delivery of personalised support to public sector teachers in Argentina, Brazil, Colombia, Mexico and Venezuela, to name only a few examples.
In addition to hearing about opportunities for their own professional development, such as scholarships and free courses, participants will have the chance to gain familiarity with the new range of free materials available for learners of English at all levels and ages, placing at the disposal of today’s busy teachers a sea of online activities, games, podcasts, videos, articles, exercises and opportunities to practice and learn English outside the classroom.

Hi Graeme
As someone who has been part of this project as an e-tutor, I'm really happy to see that this experience will be shared with others.
Looking forward to attending your session.
Cheers - Chris

Hi Chris!
Thanks for this... you'll see I've just uploaded the slides themselves as it is almost inevitable that many colleagues will be unable to make it to my presentation due to conflicting sessions.
Have a look if you have time!
See you soon,
G.
