Innovation in ELT - Michael Carrier
In our rapidly changing global world we need to make sure we use the latest ideas, newest research, best learning technologies and most innovative methods to keep our teaching fresh and our courses relevant and attractive to learners.
To achieve this, can we learn from other professions and specialists? What can we learn from the theories of Innovation and change? And how can we apply innovation theories and best practices to ELT so that we can provide the most up-to-date, learner-relevant , innovative and motivating learning opportunities for our students?
This talk will outline the theoretical issues behind Innovation and its implementation in ELT contexts, setting out examples of best practice and also the processes by which teachers and colleagues are best involved in ensuring a consultative approach to innovation and change - including coaching and mentoring for innovation.
It will touch on some of the technological aspects of innovation, but also look at how methods, resources and materials are shaped by innovation approaches.
Participants will be able to take away concrete examples of new ideas of classroom teaching, new teaching materials, new technological support for learning and teaching, and new ideas on the management and process of change in ELT.
