Pre-conference event
If yesterday was a combination of quiet sightseeing (Harrogate is indeed a lovely little town – elegant and seemingly reserved, but in fact very friendly) and meeting the rest of the hardworking British Council team (so welcoming and inspiring, too), today is reserved for the Pre-Conference introduction to the conference.
During the couple of minutes of wait for my Conference pack, I met some old friends of mine from various parts of the world, but also talked to some friendly teachers queuing with me. It’s fascinating how comfortable I feel striking up a conversation with a fellow teacher – it’s like meeting a person from your own country and speaking your own language when you’ve been abroad for too long.
15 minutes from the start of the Pre-Conference event I’m attending – the one organised by the Teacher Training and Education SIG and focusing on narrative inquiry in Teacher Training and Education. I’m a strong advocate of the power of the story as a means of professional (self-)discovery, so I’m really looking forward to the talks. Excitement!
