Jan Blake: What is a storyteller?

Minutes before the start of the closing plenary on the topic of something that seems to have been interweaved in the very tissue of this conference: stories. At this point everyone seems to be tired, although pleasantly confused by all the ideas mulled over at the conference. So much to quietly digest back home… And so grateful for the opportunity to experience this amazing professionally developing thrill! Many thanks once again to the British Council for making my reporting dialogue with all of you possible. I hope some of the information in my reports was relevant, informative and inspiring to you, too.

Jan’s storytelling proved to be truly exhilarating. What defines her as a storyteller, she said, is her passion to tell a certain story - she can tell a story successfully only once it has moved her personally.

Jan told us a couple of stories (one in the Jamaican Creole!) that not only grabbed the audience’s attention, but also effortlessly elicited lively participation from everyone. It was a wonderfully cheerful wrap up of a professionally valuable and definitely memorable conference experience.
