SIMTEST: a web-based component in an EFL placement test battery
SIMTEST is an online test that delivers C-tests and multiple-choice items using computer-adaptive testing (CAT) technology as the first component of a placement test battery. Newly-enrolling students are classified in terms of CEFR levels before being placed on the most appropriate courses. This talk describes the use and advantages of SIMTEST in its institutional context at a university language centre.
