American and British cultural studies in a TEFL world?
Presented By Jody Skinner

Session Details
Is there room for American and British cultural studies in the TEFL world? A resounding 'Yes!' is the answer I hope you’ll have after getting to know the new book Anglo-American Cultural Studies, which covers not only UK and US life and institution topics but also includes aspects of international cultural studies, all tailor-made for TEFL students and teachers.
About Jody Skinner
My graduate year abroad in beautifully romantic Bamberg, Germany, in the 80s as an MA student in comparative literature from the University of South Carolina turned into a career, and the permanent American expatriot eventually became a citizen of the EU. I later got my PhD in German linguistics in Koblenz but came to teaching English wie die Jungfrau zum Kind as the Germans say. My focus has shifted in recent years from language skills development (a superb LSD program that my colleague Edward Martin has developed in Koblenz) to Anglo-American Area and Cultural Studies. I've been IATEFL-ing since York and love the opportunity to meet colleagues and experience various landscapes in the Kingdom on the Island. Looking very much forward to a second visit to Cardiff!
P.S. If you'd like to download and print out the handout on one page only, just print the first two pages as one A4 sheet with the third page on the back as one sheet. Then fold in the middle and you have a compact A5 leaflet.
