Revolutionary GSD-method: applied linguistics for beginners!
All beginner or elementary course books rely on students' previous knowledge, opening with the whole sentences, question forms, dialogues - no introduction. Why is the linguistic order in language forgotten? How can linguistics be applied with absolute beginners? Through 18 years of teaching, I developed Gradual Skill-Developing method - teaching the language logically, not by mechanical repetition. Come and share some thoughts!
About Danijela Bojanic
Ms Danijela Bojanic is a director of studies, teacher trainer and above all, as she proudly states, a teacher who is in love with her profession: helping people learn English. She has been teaching more than half her life, before she even went to faculty. She started out as a 16 year-old secondary school student, after she took part in a very advanced programme "Students as teachers" of professor Svetozar Popovic, founder of the first Serbian private school of English and she considers it the most valuable experience in her career. Ever since, she has taught different ages, programmes, numerous course books-always searching for an ideal model of teaching: an approach, method that would answer all needs. Finally, a new Gradual Skill-Developing method came up from extra materials that she developed to support existing course books! In order to prove the method, she established a private school. From 2003 when it started with 2 clasrooms, Britanicca School flourished to seven branches until 2009, with more than 4000 students. She joined IATEFL in 2007 and after the conference in Aberdeen she was encouraged by IATEFL colleagues to submit for a presentation, which she did the following year in Exeter and Sofia with:" An accelerated 20-day English course in the school of future". In 2008 she presented in Thessaloniki, Greece, with the topic:" 21st century teacher: a tech-monster or a modern knight ?" and in Ankara, Turkey with " Deciphering the code of English". In 2009 she enrolled Oxford Brookes University for MA in Education, TESOL pathway. She considers the IATEFL making that turning-point in her future career, confirmation of her good practice and fulfilment of professional needs.
Mr Boban Gajic is a director and founder of "Britanicca School", currently at Master studies of Management in Education.Apart from running the school with 7 branches, his fields of highest interest are: Human Resources and Marketing.
