I missed this one but am lucky enough to know Fergal as we both work in Naples and I've attended many of his great shows (you can't call them presentations, can you??)
I'd recommend http://www.tuneintoenglish.com/ to anyone out ther, especially if based in Italy as you can tie it in with a road show. Kids and teachers love it, no doubt. And for the non-musical ones like me it's all very inspiring.
No sorry CassyUK don't know of any research projects but I'll keep you posted if I find something.
