What do you feel are the most interesting themes and issues within Literature, Media and Cultural Studies that you think the IATEFL conference should be exploring and addressing?

Personally I´m interested in the possibilities Literature offers in general, and specifically through the use of poetry (linked to misic and cultural or historical topics) and process drama as a means of creation and eventually performing original scripts.

It would be nice to know about the themes that motivate teachers and those they feel motivate students in their teaching environment.

According to me, motivating students to be bookworms would be an unprecedented accomplishment. But to achieve that, teachers have to beautifully addict their students to story listening . Reading is the key solution for EFL learning.

from now on EFL taching is to be defamiliarised; that is, black/white board-chalk - students context does sometimes undermine the learning process. Personally, I feel that getting-from time to time- the students out of this traingle would open up new horizons of the learning process.

Poetic creation is a very useful tac-tic that helps students embrace language in a more authentic manner. When the teacher exposes an authentic poem and asks his/her students to make its pastiche, the outcomes prove very surprising and beneficial.

I would also like the conference to address the issue of multicultural classrooms and ways to adopt approaches to embrace such diversity.

Most interesting themes and issues: how do we get our students (at all levels) to read (and listen to!) books whether it be intensive or extensive because I believe that is how they can improve all their language skills.
