What do you feel are the most interesting themes and issues within English for Academic Purposes that you think the IATEFL conference should be exploring and addressing?
I agree with Olwyn that the issue of level at which to teach EAP is really important. It will be so interesting to know what everyone thinks. I was also wondering about different experiences of EAP in different countries around the globe? Do people in general express a need to be prepared to deal with Academic English in their own countries, globally, in Europe/ the US? Are courses aimed at preparing people to meet the needs of academic life in a different country, or are they just focused on language?

An emerging issue for me is the level at which we can teach EAP. The received wisdom is usually that low level learners need general English before they are ready for EAP. However, low level general English usually focuses on verb grammar and conversation skills, whereas EAP learners need noun grammar and writing skills. I would like to suggest that low level learners need EAP as soon as possible. Is this possible do you think?
