Self access centers passé?

I am a language lab coordinator in Mexico who is working on developing a SAC for the Mexico City campus of my institution after developing one (sort of) in Toluca (http://llrc.tol.itesm.mx). However, except for websites of SACs and the BC of course, I dont find journal articles or other publications about the concept past 1999.Also, I never heard of SAC's when I did my masters in TESOL at the U of Arizona (2001-2003)
Is that because my access to academic journals is lousy or is it that no one writes about these anymore? If it is the latter, why is that so?
Hi Leigh, I have one article for you post 1999 - it paints a somewhat sad picture of a self access center gone wrong (in Oaxaca)- but it does make interesting reading. If you don't have access to it let me know and I will find a way to send you a copy.
Clemente M. 2001 Teachers attitudes within a self-directed learning scheme system 29 (45-67)
Also I wonder what the field of library studies has to impart about self access centers, I am guessing that there are some big overlaps.
Wow... Im having a devil of a time finding this source, or even the
email of Dr Clemente! Thomas, if you could find a way to send me a
copy, I sure would appreciate it.
Hi Leigh, I tracked a couple of email addresses down, so sent the article to your .mx and hotmail.
Hi
Have you checked this bibliography: http://www.hayo.nl/autonomybibliography.php?
Also, take a look at http://ilearn.20m.com for info about a book our SIG put together in 2006.
Regards,
Heather

Hi Leigh,
I have seen some articles on SAC at TeachingEnglish; you could also raise your question at global home.
What is the most challenging part of developing a self-access centre for you, apart from reaching publications about concept?
