Any information on international research projects that focus on language learning strategies and preferred learning styles? What research tools are involved? What were the main findings?

To the best of my knowlegde there are many research on humanism ( by Alan Maley) and recently there are new ways in looking at learners' strategies and learning theory "Multiple Intelligence" proposed by Howard Garner and presented by Mario Rinvolucri at VTTN national conference in August 2002 in Hanoi. They are :

The intrapersonal intelligence

The interpersonal intelligence

The logical mathematical intelligence

The linguistic intelligence

The musical intelligence

The spatial intelligence

Hi Helga

Glad to see you got enthused by the idea of language learning strategies and learning styles in the classroom to actually start a discussion thread on it. Haha. Great. I look forward to getting into this one since it is my research area for my PhD. ;)

I said look forward to because I'm too tired right now to post anything significant; it's been a long and tiring week. :/

Hi

I'm reading about how museums cater to different learning styles these days. For some reason I had thought that the introduction of special effects, computer terminals and interactive or handling acticvities was just a way to keep up with the times, be trendy and make the experience more child-friendly and accessible - or more like edutainment!

Anyway, I'd be interested to hear of any recent learning styles research and related publications.

Thanks,

Heather

PS: I had thought that learning styles were innate - and that it might be learning strategies that would be 'preferred'?
