I have just realised that all the last 5 books I have read were written by authors that either were born outside Britain, in Commonwealth countries, are UK-born from immigant families or are even authors whose mother tongue is not English, such as Khaled Housseini.

How does it affect our understanding of the expression *English literature*?

Do national literatures still stand in our times?
