Network of English Language Teacher Trainers and Educators
- Login to post comments
Dear All
I'm very glad that the Teacher Training and Education forum has attracted a number of trainers / educators. We have had wonderful discussions.
Is it not a good idea to start a network of English language teacher trainers and educators? Such a network will help us grow professionally and update ourselves constantly.
I would like to know your views. Those who are interested in the proposal, please suggest ways to go about.
Best wishes

Great idea! Albert you must have something in mind when you made the proposal. In what fields do you think networking could work?
Hello. Well, one easy thing to do would be to set up a PBwiki (pbwiki.com) page as a place to virtually meet and discuss or organize matters / activities. If that is felt to be a good idea by many interested, I would set it up. I have been working with PBwiki for my Teacher Trainer Course with University of Zurich for a while now (perino.pbwiki.com).

Hi Pilar, Gabriella and Perino
Many thanks for your promptness and willingness to be part of the network. I welcome all your suggestions. Perhaps, Perino can throw more light on pbwiki.com and he can initiate it.
Gabriella, what I had in mind was starting a yahoo group which is very much user-friendly. We can discuss any issue that is related to ELT.

Fine with me! I am not very good at creating pages like that, but if you or Perino os ready to set it up, I am ready to join and discuss things.
I'd be very interested in joining a network, too. I don't know much about these things, but here in the US, some English (as in English literature/language arts, not ESL) teachers have a network called English Companion and they use ning. It seems like it is working well -- it's fairly new.
Hi Frazier
You are welcome. Do tell us more about yourself and English Companion. How does it work? Do they have a website?
Albert
Quite a few people at IATEFL Cardiff weretalking about Ning, and on return to london I googled it and set it up. It takes about 5 minutes maximum, and if I can do it, anyone can! It creates a page a little like Facebook, you can make it public or private. i haven't really had time to 'play' with it properly - you know what it's like, you go away but the work keeps coming! But when I have caught up on everything I will be able to spend a bit more time on this. In the meantime, perhaps people on the Learning Technology SIG could help? The good thing about Ning is that it's open source [i.e. free!]

hi Albert,
I´m in.
