EAP vs ESP

Dear All
How do you think can EAP be seen as ESP? I am doubting about whether Academic Purposes are the Specific Purposes. If not, what specifies purposes in ESP?
Can we teach ESP and our students learn ESP lacking study skills?
Regards.
Dear Dr. Mangay,
Great thanks for your very simple and clear explanation of the place of EAP and ESP courses at tertiary education. This is just what I wanted to clarify for myself and other ESP university teachers. You were very helpful, indeed.
All the best
I agree with you ,including study skills in ESP courses enhances students'abilities to perform in both professional and academic environments .Nevertheless;Esp remains much more work-oriented and requires specific communication skills for the workplace.
What specific communication skills come to your mind as soon as you become aware of the students' target situation?
How do you think will they differ greatly in various specialism areas?

regarding your query,
dear zira,
you can teach
esp skills : in the context of aptitude measurement, group discussion,HR etc
eap skills : international studies, migration.immigration etc.
at any cost your students won't be affected in studies as they are enhancing only the soft skills which are the dire need of the hour.
moreover you can reduce the no of students running for coaching centres to update their skills, which they are missing in their academic syllabus.may be they join in inefficient coaching centres, they lose their money, time and energy.
so,eap and esp courses are to be included in the syllabus right from the tertiary level.
regards
