Folks,

I've added the unedited audio recording of my session to go with the PowerPoint slides. You can find the presentation on the following page:

http://iatefl.britishcouncil.org/2009/sessions/63/dsl-illiterates-teacher-dumb-terminal

It should be fairly obvious which bit of audio goes with which slide. I hope you enjoy it and look forward to your comments...

Hi Gavin,

Thank you so much for the exciting and enriching presentation. I have realised I have still a lot ahead of me to catch up with, being lost in between the digital illiteracy and digital literacy. Just in general, your presentation is rather convincing.

Hi dear Gavin!

Thanks a lot for sharing your presentation. I really enjoyed. It was good to listen to the non-edited version. I felt as I had been there. You know, I am very interested in the Digital Illiteracy topic. I think it is time to reflect on that and discuss it among our colleagues. In fact, I am preparing a presentation for an online conference next June and, if you allow me, I will use your presentation as a reference.

Thanks a lot again for you valuable work in the 'ICT in ELT' field.

Hugs from Caracas, Venezuela

Evelyn

Anastasia and Evelyn,

Thanks so much for your feedback and I'm glad you enjoyed the session. I'm not sure about being convincing! I think perhaps that's the nature of conferences - everyone is there to convince you of something: to buy a book, a dictionary, their ideas, their current favourite theory or practice. I like to talk about things that interest me and hope they interest someone else, but I'm not sure I convinced anyone. My experience with technology talkas at conferences is that invariably the speaker is 'preaching to the converted'.... mostly.

Evelyn - please feel free to use my talk as a basis for whatever you like!

Have a good holiday if you're having one!

Gavin
